Great lab news:

Mindi Price was awarded a $1,000 College of Idaho student travel grant to work with Drs. Candice Coker Morey and Richard Morey at Groningen University in the Netherlands. She will be spending a month in their lab this summer researching visual working memory.

Joshua Sukeena will be joining The University of Idaho this fall to pursue his Masters in Neuroscience!

Mark McCurdy has accepted an offer from Drexel University to join their doctoral program in Clinical Neuropsychology!

January 2013

The Lab traveled to New Orleans to present 3 posters at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Mandy Brasher, Katrine Franks and Mindi Price presented some of their work on media consumption and personality. Andrew Moore and Joshua Sukeena presented their work on video games and personality and Makenzie Elsworth and Ellen Gott presented on the mindfulness meditation study we conducted at The C of I campus last spring. November 2012

Dr. Minear presented the initial data from the NSF "brain training" study at the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Psychonomic Society held in Minneapolis, MN.

October 2012

Cognitive Plasticity Lab members, Mandy Brasher, Katrine Franks and Mindi Price, and Dr. Minear spent part of Fall Break in Sun Valley collecting data from children participating in mindfulness programs as part of our research collaboration with the wonderful folks at the Flourish Foundation and the Community School. Thanks to all the teachers and students for their help!

September 20th 2012

Dr. Arthur Kramer from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign comes to the College of Idaho as part of the Treasure Valley Lecture Series developed by Dr. Minear in collaboration with Dr. Eric Landrum at Boise State and Dr. Benjamin Earwicker at Northwest Nazarene. His talk is entitled Take a Hike: Physical Activity, Cognition and Brain Function and will be given at 1 pm in Langroise Auditorium.

August 2012 Congratulations to Claudia who has been accepted into the EPIK program to teach English in Korea! Our loss is Korean children's gain.

May 2012 Faith Brasher, Makenzie Ellsworth, Kelley Fitzgerald, and Ellen Gott travel to Sun Valley to meet with Ryan Redman, Executive Director of the Flourish Foundation to talk about mindfulness meditation and research.

April 2012 Brodi Etheridge, Niki Ward and Brandy Juarez present the pilot data from the Van Buren Elementary School study at the C of I's Student Research Conference.

January 2012 Here's a little bit of press about the pilot study we'll be doing this spring semester in the Caldwell School District. This work is a collaboration with Drs. Susanne Jaeggi and Martin Buschkuehl at the University of Maryland and Dr. Priti Shah at the University of Michigan and Stephanie Carpenter, Director of Special Education for the Caldwell District. This is a great opportunity for our C of I students to work on applied research. If you're a student who would be interested in helping with this study, please contact the lab!

December 2011 Great news! Faith Brasher has been accepted to dental school and will be attending the University of Kentucky in the fall. As sad as we are to lose her, we're very happy for her future career in dentistry! Here's Faith presenting our work at Psychonomics in Seattle. Congratulations Faith!

 

MyersOctober 2011 Dr. David G. Myers is coming to the C of I campus as part of the Treasure Valley Lecture Series developed by Dr. Minear in collaboration with Dr. Eric Landrum at Boise State and Dr. Benjamin Earwicker at Northwest Nazarene.


Dr. Myers’ C of I talk is entitled “The Scientific Pursuit of Happiness” and will take place in Langroise Auditorium on the C of I campus, October 12th at 1pm. Dr. Myers will also be speaking at Boise State on "A Quiet World:  The Psychology of Hearing and Hearing Loss" at 6pm the same day.
